This weekly-edition Hobonichi Techo is a compact book that’s easy to carry everywhere. The book is slim and roughly the size of a long wallet, making it easy to fit into a bag or suit pocket. The main layout of the book consists of a weekly calendar on the left page and blank graph paper on the right page. Each weekly spread also contains the characteristic Hobonichi quote in Japanese on the bottom of the page. Although slim at first glance, the book holds approximately 70 graph-ruled memo pages for note-taking at the end of the book.
This cover is by graphic design powerhouse Masayoshi Nakajo, who over a long career has worked on major projects like package design for Shiseido Parlor.
The commanding silver-colored base is overlaid with bright pink stripes. The cover has silver and blue 2s and 0s, and the 0s are connected through a line. Open the Weeks book all the way to see a pair of glasses with eyes looking off into the distance.
Nakajo has been producing new designs for the last 50 years. This cover is overflowing with hope for a new future.
