Chris Rothe, the founder of Write Notepads & Co is a book-binder, third generation from Baltimore. He have seen the new technologies moving in on print’s old territory. As he see it, change has pushed to the foreground the hand-crafted quality of a tangible good. And that motivates Write Notepads crew. They won’t ignore a renewed taste for physical, textural charm if it justifies our devotion to an old trade. Nor do they take for granted a notebook's everyday utility. So with each one purchased, another will go to an inner-city student who could use it, which means you can help.
Our Paper Journal edition pays tribute to the iconic folk artist Woody Guthrie. Guthrie's music heavily influenced by 1940s social and political inequality and the burgeoning Civil Rights movement, and he used his music and influence to challenge the ideals of the time. His two favorite guitars were famously emblazoned with the phrase "This Machine Kills Fascists," a bold statement showcasing the pure power of words. We've replicated the expression with the same sentiment in mind: ideas are potent tools in the fight against injustice. What will you write?
