Since 1883, when Kaweco born, there have been various systems for filling a fountain pen. Today, ink cartridges are a widespread and popular filling method. In the past, fountain pens were mainly filled using ink bottles. Besides lever fountain pens and eyedroppers, the piston mechanism has been the most important and reliable filling system.
In 1937, the Kaweco Sport fountain pen was first presented as a piston filler under the name #612 and has been further developed in many different versions over the years. A piston inside the writing instrument allows ink to be drawn directly from the bottle into the integrated reservoir. This makes ink cartridges obsolete. The transparent window allows you to keep an eye on the ink level at all times.
After years of development, Kaweco proudly announces that they have perfected the iconic sport model as a piston filler. The Kaweco Sport Piston Filler combines innovative materials with a clever and compact mechanism. The black matte anodized aluminium conveys a particular high-quality haptic. The exceptionally smooth-running filling mechanism ensures quick and easy refilling. The combination with gold-plated elements enhances the functionality with stylish elegance and thus brings together a traditional filling method with the modern age.
The Sport closely follows an original 1935 octagonal design, They're practical, too, with their 'Small in the pocket, large in the hand' design. The oversized cap arrangement creates a small closed pen but a full length open pen. Closed, the pen is just 105mm long, open 133mm long. The barrel is 14mm in diameter (around the cap).
